What is a balance bike?
Simply put, a balance bike is a bicycle without pedals. They are also commonly referred to as run bikes or push bikes.
Balance bikes are designed to allow children to learn how to balance by using their feet, planted firmly on the ground, to push themselves. As they gain confidence, they start to pick their feet up off the ground and rest them on the bike while gliding.
Many people also know balance bikes as strider bikes although Strider is a brand of balance bikes, not a type of bike. Although Strider bikes were not the first balance bike in the United States, Strider Sports started the balance bike phenomenon in 2007 and years later, have sold hundreds of thousands of Strider bikes all over the world.
